About the Artist Ken Kantro was born and raised in New York City and has called Maine his home for over thirty years.
After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in history, Ken pursued a parallel interest in Eastern philosophy and the simple, straightforward art it inspires.
An apprenticeship with a Japanese potter taught him the techniques and aesthetics of the Far East.
As Ken's work became design intensive in the early eighties, his reputation grew.
He has received many special commissions and honors, anong them the American Pewter Guild Design Award for 1983.
His original Lovell Designs, available in pewter, sterling, gold plate, and 14K gold, have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution and at museums and art galleries around the world.
Ken draws on the familiar for his artisitic inspiration. From his home on the coast of Maine, he creates work which is a tribute to the natural beauty of the Maine wilderness.
