Susan Roux was born in Berlin, NH and grew up surrounded by the majestic White Mountains. She now lives in Maine where the rocky coast and many lakes continue to inspire her love of nature and the artistic process of capturing the natural world on canvas. Her oil paintings, though appearing representational from a distance, reveal an energetic use of color and stroke that project the feeling of both movement and glistening light. The wide range of colors in Maine's flower gardens continually stimulate her palette, and the interplay of sun and shadow on moving leaves and water allow her to suggest motion on otherwise quiet scenes. Her work is represented in several galleries from Cape Cod to Maine and in St. Petersburg, Russia.
